John Ellis Price is president of the University of North Texas at Dallas. He was named president in August 2010.
Price earned a Ph.D. in accounting from UNT in Denton. He received his masters in accounting and a bachelor of business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also a certified public accountant. His research and publication interests are in the areas of tax compliance and administration and accounting education where he has published numerous articles. He is also the co-author of College Accounting. As a member of the faculty of the College of Business Administration at UNT, Price twice received the college's Outstanding Teaching Award. He also received the University's President's Council Award.
Price previously served as the KPMG Professor of Taxation and chair of the Department of Accounting at UNT in Denton, professor and dean of the School of Business at Jackson State University, assistant professor of accounting at the University of Southern Mississippi and as an internal revenue agent with the Internal Revenue Service. He also served two terms as a member of the Commissioner's Advisory Group for the IRS.
Price is a member of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Taxation Association. He has served as chair of the American Taxation Association's Subcommittee on Relations with the IRS and Treasury. He currently serves as chair of the Minority Initiatives Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
