The residency program in orthopaedic surgery at JPS Hospital, under the academic supervision and direction of UNT Health Science Center faculty members, this week achieved a 91st percentile ranking in the annual Orthopedic In-Training Examination, according to Program Director, Russell Wagner, MD, associate professor at UNTHSC.
This comprehensive exam covers all areas of orthopaedic surgery and is used to assess the progress of resident physicians in our program as they gain increasing levels of knowledge in the field," Dr. Wagner said. "A 91st percentile ranking is exemplary."
The annual exam is administered by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and meets a requirement of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), which assesses and approves the JPS Orthopaedic residency program, according to Dr. Wagner.
He noted that the residency program includes five graduates of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) at UNTHSC who are among the top performers on this exam. Colten Luedke, DO, class of 2010, scored at the 100th percentile.
