Cathy Bryce of Argyle, Texas was appointed to the Board in December 2023 with a term set to expire in May 2029.
A retired Highland Park ISD Superintendent, Regent Bryce’s educational career is solidly grounded in her conviction that all children deserve an outstanding education. She began her career as a choir and English teacher and served in various K-12 leadership roles, including a high school assistant principal, a middle school principal, a Director of Curriculum and Instruction, an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Deputy Superintendent and, finally, as Superintendent of Schools in Weatherford ISD and Highland Park ISD.
Regent Bryce is a UNT alumna, earning her Ed.D. in 1991. She stands out as a leader in education, being named Texas Superintendent of the Year for the American Association of School Administrators in 2000. She was the 2008 recipient of the Brownlee award from the Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and was also named the 2008 Key Communicator by the Texas School Public Relations Association. She received the Highland Park Alumni Association Highlander Award in 2014 and the Outstanding Alumnus Service Award from the University of North Texas Alumni Association in 2015. Most notably, Regent Bryce received the Golden Deeds Award in October 2019 from Texas A&M University Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development and the Texas Association of School Administrators.
Following her 34-year career in public education, Regent Bryce earned her municipal securities license and worked with the team at BOK Financial Securities to support the pubic school districts of Texas with bond underwriting and Board of Trustees training.
Regent Bryce has served on various Boards, including as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Region 11 Education Service Center, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University of North Texas Foundation, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University of North Texas Alumni Association.
Regent Bryce is a member of the Kershaw’s Challenge Board of Directors. In addition, she is active in the Denton Benefit League, having served as President in 2015-16, and a member of the Clear Horizons Department of the Denton Ariel Club.
