Presidential Scholars participate in leadership development experiences, community service initiatives and campus events, in addition to serving as the President's ambassadors for the university.

Timing is important because the application deadline is Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. High school students considering UNT Dallas, who haven’t yet applied or been admitted to the university, should move quickly if they want to be considered for a Presidential Scholarship. Students who have already been admitted have less than six weeks to complete the application. This is the application form that must be filled out to be considered.

The Presidential Scholars Program seeks enthusiastic and talented high school students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. While the program values high academic achievement, it is also important that students are well-rounded individuals who are dedicated to serving their campus and community.

The selection committee looks at applicants on a holistic level and takes into consideration a combination of GPA, test scores, high school and community involvement, strength of essays, and strength of recommendation letters when making acceptance decisions.

Currently, there are currently 19 active Presidential Scholars on campus, including seven in the most recent freshmen class that started in August 2024.

Many of the scholarships awarded at the UNT Dallas are based on the student’s application for admission. Not all eligible students may receive a scholarship as funding is limited.
