Leadership at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth on Monday announced that Lisa Nash, DO, MS-HPEd, FAAFP will take over as vice president clinical affairs and transition
from her role as interim dean of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine to the permanent dean of the college.
She is the first woman to serve as the permanent dean in TCOM’s history and the first TCOM alumna to hold this position. Nash becomes the ninth dean of the college.
The changes are effective immediately. Nash began serving in September as the college’s interim dean. A TCOM graduate, she has held several leadership roles at the college, including senior associate dean for educational programs and graduate medical education. In this capacity, she oversaw all Graduate Medical Education programs affiliated with UNTHSC, the TCOM Advisory Colleges program, residency match strategies and the Faculty Development Center.
“I am deeply honored to continue serving TCOM in this capacity,” Nash said. “TCOM has been my home for many years, and I am passionate about its mission to train future osteopathic physicians who will serve our communities with compassion and excellence. I look forward to working with our exceptional faculty, staff and students to continue advancing TCOM’s legacy of innovation and service to the health care profession.”
Nash earned her degree in 1991 from the college and completed her family medicine residency at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas in Fort Worth. She is board certified in family medicine. Nash spent four years in rural private practice before joining the faculty at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where she served from 1998 to 2010 before returning to TCOM.
Her extensive background in rural private practice, faculty positions and residency program leadership, combined with her academic accomplishments, positions Nash to continue guiding TCOM toward innovation and excellence.
“We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Nash in this pivotal role,” said Christopher Ray, UNTHSC acting provost. “Her leadership, vision and unwavering commitment to our students and TCOM are unmatched. She has proven herself as an inspiring and capable leader, and we are confident that her continued guidance will propel TCOM to new heights of excellence and impact.”
