Robyn B. Remotigue, executive director of the Office of Research and Scholarship at the College of Nursing at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, was recently presented with the 2024 Distinguished Service Award from Region 5 (Texas/Okla.) of the National Council of University Research Administrators recognizing her 30 years of contributions to research operations and administration.
“This award is not just for me—it’s a reflection of the incredible work of the many talented people I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with throughout my career,” Remotigue said.
Prior to joining UNTHSC’s College of Nursing, Remotigue served as founding executive director of research services for UNTHSC’s College of Public Health, overseeing a portfolio of $7 million in annual sponsored research projects. She also led initiatives to enhance the college’s research services infrastructure and mentors on the National Institute for Health’s Sponsored Programs Administration Development grant with Auburn University at Montgomery, Ala.
“We are thrilled to have Robyn join our team as we grow our College of Nursing,” said Dr. Cindy Weston, founding dean of the College of Nursing. “Her incredible track record and strategic vision will be instrumental in establishing our college as a research leader among nursing schools and colleges across the state and country.”
Before her time at UNTHSC, Remotigue made significant strides at Mississippi State University, where she managed a $145 million research portfolio. At MSU, she founded the subcontract management unit within the Office of Sponsored Projects, helping the university navigate complex federal regulations and ensuring compliance with evolving guidelines. In addition, she designed and implemented the Departmental Administrator Working Group, a curriculum aimed at training and mentoring the next generation of research administrators.
Remotigue has been a member of the National Council of University Research Administrators since 1999, and she has held a variety of leadership roles within the organization, including serving as Region V Chair of the Mustang Mentoring Program and Volunteer Coordinator for Region III. She has also served on the NCURA Board of Directors and Professional Development Committee, shaping the direction of research administration across the country.
